On the morning of September 2, 2026<\/strong>, a shooting occurred on Yurii Shumskyi Street in Kyiv<\/strong> involving officers of the Security Service of Ukraine and, according to media and a lawyer, servicemen of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence. The lawyer reported the death of one GUR fighter and serious injuries to two more. At the same time, as of the time this piece was prepared, the death of a serviceman from the SBU, the GUR and the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) had not been officially confirmed.<\/p>\n

The circumstances of the incident were recounted by the lawyer of deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps and fighter of the GUR special unit “Timur”, Stepan Kaplunov<\/strong> \u2014 Taras Borovskyi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the defender, as early as August 23<\/strong> SBU officers allegedly detained Stepan Kaplunov<\/strong>, after which his whereabouts remained unknown for several days. The RDK had earlier also reported that their fighter had been kidnapped by unknown persons.<\/p>\n

\u2013 August 23<\/strong> representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine kidnapped Main Directorate of Intelligence serviceman Stepan Hryhorovych Kaplunov<\/strong>. He is a fighter of the RDK of the Timur Center of the Main Directorate of Intelligence. Until last night no one knew where he was. We only suspected that it might be the SBU. They did not respond to lawyers’ inquiries, no one did anything, \u2013 said Borovskyi<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The lawyer asserts that on the night before September 2<\/strong> special forces of the SBU Special Operations Center “A” brought the serviceman to his apartment to carry out a search. Representatives of the GUR, who had been raised on alert, were already waiting for them there.<\/p>\n

\u2013 They brought Stepan here in order to, essentially, carry out an unlawful nighttime search, to plant what they need to “frame” a criminal case against him. However, representatives of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, who had sounded the alarm, were waiting at the apartment. A lot of people gathered here, \u2013 he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
