In Mykolaiv<\/strong>, a sudden verbal altercation near a shop ended with the hospitalization of a 62-year-old<\/strong> man. A stranger kicked him in the head and fled the scene.<\/p>\n

On August 25<\/strong>, medical workers informed the operators of the emergency line 102<\/strong> that a 62-year-old<\/strong> man who had been beaten by an unknown person was brought to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Police officers of the investigative-operational team of Police Department No. 3<\/strong> of the Mykolaiv District Directorate, which serves the Korabelnyi district, established the circumstances of the attack. According to the investigation, in the evening near a shop in one of Mykolaiv<\/strong>‘s neighborhoods a verbal conflict arose between two strangers.<\/p>\n

During the altercation, the attacker kicked the victim in the head, after which he left the scene. The injured man was hospitalized in a medical facility, where he remains.<\/p>\n

Within a few hours, officers of Police Department No. 3<\/strong> identified the suspected attacker and located him. He was a 24-year-old<\/strong> local resident who had previously faced criminal charges on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n

Investigators detained the man in accordance with Article 208<\/strong> of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

With the consent of the District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Mykolaiv<\/strong>, the detainee was notified of suspicion under part 1<\/strong> of Article 121<\/strong> of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2014 “Intentional grievous bodily injury”.<\/p>\n

The article’s sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 8 years<\/strong>. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
