Director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency<\/strong> John Ratcliffe<\/strong> arrived in Moscow<\/strong> amid Washington<\/strong>‘s concerns about possible Russia<\/strong> plans for military mobilization and testing the readiness of NATO<\/strong> countries for a potential confrontation. According to the paper, American intelligence obtained information about a possible initial stage of Russia<\/strong>‘s preparation for mobilization. At the same time, Washington<\/strong> has data on a likely intent by the Kremlin<\/strong> to test NATO<\/strong>‘s resolve.<\/p>\n

Analysts suggest that one<\/strong> of the aims of the visit could have been a meeting between the head of the CIA<\/strong> and representatives of the Russian leadership, including Vladimir Putin<\/strong>. It is likely that during such a meeting the American side could have delivered a warning that it knows about possible intentions of Moscow<\/strong> and urged not to take corresponding steps.<\/p>\n

This assessment was expressed by former deputy director of U.S. National Intelligence<\/strong> Beth Sanner<\/strong>. She suggested that the American signal could have concerned the U.S.<\/strong> awareness of possible plans by the Russian leadership and a call to abandon them.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the topics of the trip may not have been limited to issues related to Russia<\/strong> and NATO<\/strong>. According to Beth Sanner<\/strong>, they may have included talks about a ceasefire in Iran<\/strong>, as well as a possible expansion of the circle of participants in discussions about a truce.<\/p>\n
