Both victims were hospitalized. The police have opened a criminal proceeding and are establishing all circumstances of the crash.<\/p>\n<p>The accident occurred on <strong>August 20 at around 19:50<\/strong> at the intersection of <strong>Vyhovskoho and Kulchytska<\/strong> streets. According to preliminary data from the Lviv Oblast Police, initially a <strong>22-year-old BMW driver<\/strong>, a resident of Yavoriv district, ran over an <strong>8-year-old<\/strong> girl.<\/p>\n<p>After that, another <strong>BMW<\/strong>, driven by a <strong>21-year-old Lviv resident<\/strong>, struck the child and her <strong>36-year-old<\/strong> father.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminarily, law enforcement established that the man and his daughter were crossing the roadway at a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing while the traffic light showed a prohibited signal.<\/p>\n<p>Both drivers were tested for intoxication using a Dr\u00e4ger device. The results showed they were sober. Experts are currently determining the vehicles&#8217; speeds.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators of the department for investigating criminal proceedings involving children of the Lviv Oblast Police, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor&#8217;s Office, opened proceedings under <strong>Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. This concerns violations of road traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons who drive vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The penalty under the article provides for <strong>three to eight years of imprisonment<\/strong> with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to <strong>three<\/strong> years or without such restriction.
