Over the year their number decreased by <strong data-start=\"601\" data-end=\"615\">5,800<\/strong>. This was reported by the director of the Department of Education and Science of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, <strong data-start=\"682\" data-end=\"702\">Alla Velikhovska<\/strong>, during a <a class=\"decorated-link cursor-pointer\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"832\">meeting of the profile commission of the Mykolaiv Regional Council<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=p8cPim6uhyQ&amp;t=340s\">took place<\/a> <strong data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"871\">August 18, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"874\" data-end=\"1011\">Last school year the region counted <strong data-start=\"923\" data-end=\"947\">94,300 students<\/strong>. Thus, the number of pupils fell by almost six thousand.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-light\">\n<p data-start=\"1015\" data-end=\"1093\">\u201cWe have 88,500 students. Last year there were 94,300,\u201d said Alla Velikhovska.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1095\" data-end=\"1221\">About <strong data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1159\">76,240 children<\/strong> are planned to be taught in in-person and blended formats. That is about <strong data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1179\">86%<\/strong> of the total number of students in the region.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1255\" data-end=\"1444\">As of <strong data-start=\"1265\" data-end=\"1277\">August 5<\/strong>, parents submitted <strong data-start=\"1292\" data-end=\"1306\">5,782 applications<\/strong> for enrolling children in first grade. These data have already been entered into the automated information complex for educational management <strong data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1443\">AIKOM<\/strong>. <strong>Alla Velikhovska<\/strong> emphasized that the figure remains preliminary and may change before the start of the school year. According to her, among future first-graders there are many displaced children, mainly from <strong data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1663\">Kherson Oblast<\/strong>. Families move to the Mykolaiv region and enroll children in local schools because here there is an opportunity to study in-person.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1811\" data-end=\"1861\">According to preliminary plans, in the new school year:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1863\" data-end=\"1999\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1fszpx6\" data-start=\"1863\" data-end=\"1898\"><strong data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"1878\">244 schools<\/strong> will operate in-person;<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"19mb9fv\" data-start=\"1899\" data-end=\"1947\"><strong data-start=\"1901\" data-end=\"1917\">107 institutions<\/strong> will organize blended learning;<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"v1eubs\" data-start=\"1948\" data-end=\"1999\"><strong data-start=\"1950\" data-end=\"1962\">41 schools<\/strong> will remain in a distance learning format.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2001\" data-end=\"2103\">Distance learning will be used mainly by children from educational institutions located near areas of active hostilities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2589\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Parents of first-graders can also apply for the state aid <strong data-start=\"2167\" data-end=\"2188\">\u201cSchoolchild\u2019s Package\u201d<\/strong>. Its amount is <strong data-start=\"2210\" data-end=\"2242\">5,000 hryvnias per child<\/strong> enrolled in first grade in Ukraine. The application can be submitted through the <strong data-start=\"2319\" data-end=\"2328\">\u201cDiia\u201d<\/strong> app, and the funds can be spent on books, stationery, school supplies, clothing and shoes.
