Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh<\/strong> won the European Championships gold medal in the high jump for the third consecutive time. Her victory was the first gold for the Ukraine<\/strong> team at this year’s tournament.<\/p>\n

According to \u00abSuspilne.Sport\u00bb<\/strong>, the women’s final took place on Saturday, 15 August<\/strong>, in Birmingham<\/strong>. It featured 15<\/strong> athletes, who began competing at a height of 1.83 meters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The bar at 1.88 meters<\/strong> was cleared by Ukrainian Iryna Herashchenko<\/strong> on her second attempt. At that height the Serbian athlete Angelina Topic<\/strong> ended her competition, failing to convert any of her three<\/strong> attempts.<\/p>\n

Mahuchikh<\/strong> entered the contest at 1.92 meters<\/strong> and cleared it on her first attempt. Herashchenko cleared that bar only on her third attempt.<\/p>\n

The height of 1.95 meters<\/strong> proved too much for Iryna Herashchenko, so she finished the European Championships in the top-5<\/strong>. Yaroslava Mahuchikh continued to fight for the medals alongside Polish athlete Maria Zhodzik<\/strong> and Montenegro’s representative Marija Vukovic<\/strong>. They advanced to the final phase of the competition.<\/p>\n

In the end Mahuchikh became European high jump champion for the third consecutive time. This is the Ukrainian team’s first gold at the European Championships-2026<\/strong> and the fourth medal overall for the Ukrainian team at the tournament.<\/p>\n

Earlier Yaroslava Mahuchikh competed at the Diamond League<\/strong> meeting in London<\/strong>. The Ukrainian lost to Australian jumper Nicola Olyslagers<\/strong> and finished second.<\/p>\n
