15 August<\/strong> left very different events in the history of the Korabelny District<\/strong> and Mykolaiv<\/strong>. The district experienced a large-scale sewer collector failure, Mykolaiv residents for the first time raised a huge state flag on a flagpole manufactured by “Okean”, Russian forces struck the city with rockets, and a few years later infrastructure for new trolleybus routes appeared in Korabelny.<\/p>\n

15 August 2019<\/strong>: Korabelny District was suffocating due to a collector accident<\/h2>\n

In the Korabelny District of Mykolaiv<\/strong> a serious sewer collector accident had been ongoing for several days. As reported<\/a> Korabelov.info, sewage flooded the basement of the building at Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue, 340\/2<\/strong>, where a medical outpatient clinic, the registry office, a dental clinic and shops were located. During inspection the depth of flooding in some places reached 1.5 meters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

15 August 2021<\/strong>: a giant Ukrainian flag was raised in Mykolaiv for the first time<\/h2>\n

In the square “Young Heroes” in Mykolaiv<\/strong> a huge state flag measuring 18\u00d712 meters<\/strong> was raised for the first time \u2014 during a test the cloth was lifted to approximately 70 meters<\/strong>. The 72-meter<\/strong> flagpole itself, weighing about 30 tons<\/strong>, had earlier been manufactured<\/a> at the shipbuilding plant “Okean” in the Korabelny District<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

15 August 2022<\/strong>: Mykolaiv was hit by 8 S-300 missiles<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On the night of 15 August 2022<\/strong> Russian forces again attacked<\/a> Mykolaiv<\/strong>: the then head of the regional military administration, Vitalii Kim<\/strong>, reported 8 rocket strikes<\/strong>, reportedly by S-300<\/strong> missiles. In one educational facility 3 floors<\/strong> collapsed; private houses, a hotel, industrial infrastructure and an enterprise were also damaged. According to information at the time, there were no dead or wounded.<\/p>\n

15 August 2024<\/strong>: the “Okean” plant was awarded for the defense of Mykolaiv<\/h2>\n

Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych<\/strong> reported<\/a> that the team of the shipbuilding plant “Okean” was awarded the distinction “For the Defense of Mykolaiv” II degree<\/strong> for the enterprise’s contribution to the city’s defense. The plant’s general director, Andrii Fatianov<\/strong>, received a separate “For the Defense of Mykolaiv” medal.<\/p>\n

15 August 2024<\/strong>: a defender from Korabelny, Vadym Semeniuk, was killed<\/h2>\n

On that day, during the Kursk operation, serviceman Vadym Oleksandrovych Semeniuk<\/strong>, call sign “Pryanik”, was killed. As Korabelov.info later reported<\/a>, he studied at schools No.48<\/strong> and No.49<\/strong>, at a vocational lyceum in the Korabelny District<\/strong>, worked at the port, and on 29 March 2023<\/strong> voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served in the 61st Separate Mechanized Brigade<\/strong>. A farewell in Mykolaiv<\/strong> was only possible in November 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

15 August 2025<\/strong>: in Korabelny they completed the “charging” for trolleybuses<\/h2>\n

In the Korabelny District of Mykolaiv<\/strong> they completed<\/a> the installation of a charging station for trolleybuses with autonomous running. It received 6 charging columns<\/strong>, a dispatch center and backup generators. This infrastructure made it possible to start running through the district 2 new trolleybus routes<\/strong> from 18 August<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

15 August 1947<\/strong> India gained independence from British colonial rule. And on 15 August 1969<\/strong> in the USA the legendary music festival Woodstock began, which became one of the symbols of 1960s<\/strong> culture.<\/p>\n

Thus remained the date 15 August<\/strong> for the Korabelny District<\/strong> and Mykolaiv<\/strong>: utility accidents and major city projects, the plant “Okean”, Russian missile strikes, the memory of a fallen fellow countryman and the gradual return of public transport to remote neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
