The environmental damage was estimated at <strong data-start=\"899\" data-end=\"926\">over 400 thousand hryvnias<\/strong>. This was reported on <strong data-start=\"936\" data-end=\"959\">August 11 <\/strong>2026 by the <strong><a class=\"decorated-link cursor-pointer\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"973\" data-end=\"1031\">Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor&#8217;s Office<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1034\" data-end=\"1137\">Prosecutors of the Novoodeske department of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor&#8217;s Office sent the indictment to court. According to the investigation, during <strong data-start=\"1168\" data-end=\"1188\">October 2022<\/strong> <strong>four men<\/strong> agreed in advance and repeatedly cut down <strong data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1267\">acacias<\/strong> in protective forest plantings. They used chainsaws for this. The felled timber, according to law enforcement, was sold by the men and generated illegal profit. In total <strong data-start=\"1463\" data-end=\"1475\">50 trees<\/strong> were destroyed. The defendants&#8217; actions were qualified under <strong data-start=\"1513\" data-end=\"1531\">Part 4 of Art. 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong> \u2014 illegal tree felling committed repeatedly by a group of persons and causing grave consequences.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1628\" data-end=\"1747\">The prosecutor&#8217;s office also filed a civil claim to recover from the defendants <strong data-start=\"1700\" data-end=\"1727\">over 400 thousand hryvnias<\/strong> in favor of the state. If guilt is proven, the men face <strong data-start=\"1790\" data-end=\"1834\">five to seven years of imprisonment<\/strong>. The final decision in the case will be made by the court.
