August 6<\/strong> in the history of the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> and Mykolaiv<\/strong> is remembered for the establishment of an educational institution, a destructive storm in the port, a large-scale fire along the railway, the rescue of a person and a deadly Russian shelling.<\/p>\n

August 6, 1971<\/strong>: a cultural-educational faculty was established in Mykolaiv<\/h2>\n

By Order of the Ministry of Culture of the Ukrainian SSR No. 301<\/strong>, a cultural-educational faculty of the Kyiv Institute of Culture<\/strong> was established<\/a> in Mykolaiv<\/strong>. It became the beginning of a separate city unit for training specialists for libraries, cultural institutions and artistic ensembles.<\/p>\n

August 6, 2017<\/strong>: a storm derailed seven cranes at the port “Olvia”<\/h2>\n

Around 16:09<\/strong> a powerful gust of wind that lasted about 10 minutes<\/strong> shifted<\/a> 7 portal cranes<\/strong> off their rails at berths No. 5<\/strong> and No. 6<\/strong> of the enterprise “Olvia”. Two cranes were damaged, part of the roof was torn off warehouses and windows were blown out, but no people were injured.<\/p>\n

August 6, 2020<\/strong>: a train left a fire covering three hectares<\/h2>\n

After a freight train passed through the Korabelnyi District<\/strong>, a series of fires started along the railway on Yantarna, Novobudivna, Olviyska, Samoylovycha and Rybna streets. Korabelov.info reported<\/a> that the fire affected about 3 hectares<\/strong>, and 20 rescuers<\/strong>, 5 special vehicles<\/strong> and two water trucks were involved in extinguishing it.<\/p>\n

August 6, 2022<\/strong>: Russians fired 12 rocket projectiles at Mykolaiv<\/h2>\n

Around 03:30<\/strong> Russian forces shelled industrial infrastructure and residential quarters of Mykolaiv<\/strong>, firing 12 rocket projectiles<\/strong>. 7 microdistricts<\/strong> were hit, and in Korenis a rocket pierced the ceiling of a five-story building and flew into an apartment: 2 people died<\/strong>, about 10<\/strong> were seriously wounded, which human rights defenders recorded<\/a>.<\/p>\n

August 6, 2024<\/strong>: a man was rescued from a burning apartment<\/h2>\n

At 05:11<\/strong> an apartment on the 7th floor<\/strong> of a nine-story building on Prospekt Korabeliv, 12-B<\/strong>, caught fire. Due to a narrow access road an aerial ladder could not be set up, so rescuers broke down the door and carried a man born in 1963<\/strong> out the stairs; he was hospitalized with smoke inhalation. Korabelov.info reported<\/a> that 12 firefighters<\/strong> and 3 special vehicles<\/strong> were on the scene.<\/p>\n

August 6, 1657<\/strong>, or July 27<\/strong> old style, in Chyhyryn<\/strong> died Bohdan Khmelnytsky<\/strong> \u2014 the first hetman of the Ukrainian Cossack state he had created. August 6, 1945<\/strong> an American aircraft dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima<\/strong>: tens of thousands of people died immediately, and the effects of radiation claimed lives for many years afterwards.<\/p>\n

For the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> this date became a reminder of both the power of natural forces, the danger of neglected infrastructure, and of Russian terror, which in 2022<\/strong> brought Mykolaiv<\/strong> new victims and destruction.<\/p>\n
