5 August<\/strong> in the history of the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> and Mykolaiv<\/strong> left different events: the city’s capture by Denikin’s forces, a temperature record, a youth quest, a rescue of a person on the beach, and one of the heaviest Russian attacks on the district.<\/p>\n

5 August 1919<\/strong> old style: Denikin’s forces captured Mykolaiv<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In local history publications the capture of Mykolaiv<\/strong> by the Volunteer Army under the command of Yakov Aleksandrovich Slashchov<\/strong> is dated 5 August 1919<\/strong> according to the Julian calendar. By the modern Gregorian calendar this is 18 August 1919<\/strong> \u2014 this is the date cited by the State Archive of Mykolaiv Oblast<\/a>. Denikin’s authorities restored the old city council and launched reprisals; this period ended on 31 January 1920<\/strong>, when the Red Army entered the city.<\/p>\n

5 August 2010<\/strong>: a record +37.9\u00b0C<\/strong> was recorded in Mykolaiv<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The temperature record for this calendar date in Mykolaiv<\/strong> was set<\/a> in 2010<\/strong>, when the air warmed to +37.9\u00b0C<\/strong>. These data were previously published by the Mykolaiv Hydrometeorological Center in the publication “Korabeliv.Info”.<\/p>\n

5 August 2012<\/strong>: the Korabelnyi District was turned into a large quest<\/h2>\n

In the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> a youth game “Korablevnyi.Quest” was held<\/a>, whose participants completed 11 tasks<\/strong> related to the history and landmarks of the district. The team “_Vips_” consisting of Dmytro Varakuta<\/strong>, Vladyslav Yunkov<\/strong> and Olena Varakuta<\/strong> won.<\/p>\n

5 August 2014<\/strong>: separatist leaflets were slipped into mailboxes<\/h2>\n

Residents of the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> found<\/a> double-sided A4 leaflets in mailboxes with calls for violent overthrow of the authorities and division of Ukraine, signed by the “Coordination Center “Novaya Rus’””.<\/p>\n

5 August 2017<\/strong>: a man was rescued at the “Chaika” beach<\/h2>\n

Around 16:40<\/strong> children noticed an unconscious man in the water and called a rescuer. The victim was pulled<\/a> ashore, given first aid and brought back to consciousness, after which he was handed over to ambulance medics.<\/p>\n

5 August 2022<\/strong>: Russians shelled Balabanivka and the Korabelnyi District<\/h2>\n

At night the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> was attacked<\/a> with cluster munitions from MLRS, in the morning \u2014 with artillery \u201cPion\u201d, and during the day residential neighborhoods and Balabanivka<\/strong> were hit. 1 person<\/strong> was killed, 22 residents<\/strong> were wounded, including a 13-year-old boy<\/strong>; 21 private houses<\/strong>, 5 apartment buildings<\/strong> and 2 enterprises<\/strong> were damaged. That same evening in Mykolaiv<\/strong> a long curfew was introduced<\/a> \u2014 from 23:00 on 5 August<\/strong> to 05:00 on 8 August<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5 August 1941<\/strong> the defense of Odesa<\/strong> began, which lasted until 16 October 1941<\/strong>. And on 5 August 1963<\/strong> in Moscow<\/strong> representatives of the USSR, the USA and Great Britain signed<\/a> the treaty banning nuclear tests in the atmosphere, outer space and under water.<\/p>\n

For residents of the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> the most painful page of this date remains 5 August 2022<\/strong>, when Russian strikes took human life, wounded dozens of people and damaged residential neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
