The Ukrainian company Fire Point has created its own turbojet engine for the cruise missile “Flamingo”, CEO Iryna Terekh said in an interview with TWZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the CEO, the development of the new engine took more than half a year, and the company is currently assembling the first 10<\/strong> prototypes with a proprietary fan unit. She emphasized that creating the engine proved to be a more difficult task than manufacturing the missile itself.<\/p>\n

Previously, “Flamingo” was already tested with 5<\/strong> different powerplants, including the AI-25TL modification based on the AI-25 engine.<\/p>\n

“Flamingo was initially designed as a flexible platform capable of working with different types of engines. Therefore, we can significantly expand the list of supported engines,” said Fire Point CEO I. Terekh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The company expects to complete testing of all existing samples by the end of the year, after which it will make the necessary improvements and move to serial production next year.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Fire Point admits that it has not yet been able to reach the announced production volumes of “Flamingo” \u2014 up to 7<\/strong> units per day.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, because Ukraine expected funds from an EU loan, the volume of orders did not match maximum capacity, so production was reduced. We expect to reach the declared level by the end of the year or at the beginning of the next year,” explained Fire Point CEO I. Terekh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
