In Mykolaiv<\/strong> municipal services continue to eliminate the aftermath of a Russian attack on the premises of Lyceum No. 40 in the Korabelnyi District<\/strong>. Workers are clearing debris, inspecting damaged rooms and temporarily boarding up blown-out windows. The progress of the work was reported on 3 August <\/strong>2026 by the Mykolaiv City Council<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As a result of the attack the institution’s building sustained significant damage<\/strong>: the blast wave blew out almost all the windows, doors, classrooms and the sports hall were damaged. One of the two school buses burned out completely<\/strong>, and the other’s glass was damaged. At the same time the shelter located next to the point of impact of the munition and debris withstood the impact and remained undamaged<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“The most important thing: the shelter located next to the point of impact withstood the blow and fully performed its function,” \u2014 said the mayor Oleksandr Senkevych<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The institution was being prepared for the start of the new school year. With state co-financing the lyceum was undergoing a major overhaul of the canteen<\/strong> to create modern conditions for preparing meals for pupils. The city authorities plan to appeal to international partners for assistance in restoring the damaged building.<\/p>\n

On the morning of 2 August<\/strong> Russian forces attacked Mykolaiv with a Shahed-type loitering munition “Shahed”<\/strong>. As a result of the work of the Defense Forces and falling debris the lyceum and vehicles were damaged. According to local media, it was specifically Lyceum No. 40<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
