On the morning of July 27<\/strong> in Mykolaiv<\/strong>, a car caught fire in which the victim had stored goods for sale. Police identified a 76-year-old<\/strong> local resident suspected of arson; the fire damaged the vehicle’s front end.<\/p>\n

A report about the Nissan Serena<\/strong> catching fire, parked near the tram tracks at the intersection of Sinnaya<\/strong> and 8th of March<\/strong> streets, was received in the morning by the Mykolaiv District Police Department<\/strong> from a dispatcher of Mykolaivelektrotrans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Rescuers who extinguished the fire, officers of the district department’s investigative-operational team, and specialists from the forensic laboratory of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv Oblast<\/strong> arrived at the scene.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officers seized burn fragments and the remains of a plastic bottle. Everything seized was sent for expert examination.<\/p>\n

During initial investigative and operational-search actions, police established that a 76-year-old<\/strong> local resident who sells goods near the victim may be involved in the arson.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the day before the sellers had a quarrel over a customer. After the conflict, the man came in the morning to the place where his 74-year-old<\/strong> competitor’s car was parked, poured a flammable liquid over the vehicle and set it on fire.<\/p>\n

Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Mykolaiv<\/strong>, notified the suspect of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong> \u2014 intentional damage to property committed by arson.<\/p>\n

The article’s penalty provides for up to 10 years’ imprisonment<\/strong>. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
