In Mykolaiv<\/strong> the police continue to search for persons who, according to the investigation, left an infant in a garbage container. For information useful to the investigation law enforcement officers guarantee a cash reward, confidentiality and anonymity.<\/p>\n

A report about a child in a garbage bin was received by the police on the afternoon of 26 January<\/strong> from a resident of Mykolaiv<\/strong>. A passerby heard crying near a container next to the entrance of an apartment building on Lazurna<\/strong> Street, in the Namyv<\/strong> neighborhood.<\/p>\n

The infant was hospitalized by ambulance. Doctors determined that the newborn was up to seven days<\/strong> old.<\/p>\n

Police from the investigative-operational group of the Mykolaiv District Police Department<\/strong>, forensic experts from the investigative department, operatives and cynologists of the regional police headquarters arrived at the scene. Inspectors of the forensic laboratory collected, and investigators seized, physical evidence.<\/p>\n

A pre-trial investigation has been opened on the fact of an attempt to murder a minor child under the signs of a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Art. 15, item 2 of Part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Investigators have already obtained the results of about fifty<\/strong> examinations and are checking several versions. Operatives interviewed more than 2,500<\/strong> citizens, are checking medical institutions of communal, state and private ownership, the city’s pharmacies, and are also questioning public transport and taxi drivers.<\/p>\n

Analysts of the criminal analysis department monitored dozens of hours of video footage from the \u00abSafe City\u00bb<\/strong> camera system. Juvenile prevention inspectors checked families in difficult living circumstances and educational institutions, cyber police are investigating the internet space, and psychological support staff composed a tentative profile of the offender. They are also checking government institutions where various population categories are registered and receive social assistance.<\/p>\n

Citizens who saw a pregnant woman who suddenly left her place of residence, noticed suspicious behavior by people, or who have other important information are asked to report to the special line 102<\/strong>. The mother of the abandoned child was also urged to call 102<\/strong> herself or come to the nearest police station: sincere repentance may be taken into account to mitigate punishment in accordance with Art. 66 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>, and the woman is promised qualified legal and psychological assistance.<\/p>\n
