In the Mykolaiv region<\/strong>, based on the results of the first half of 2026<\/strong>, 161 new case of HIV infection<\/strong> was registered. This was reported on 22 July<\/strong> 2026 by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Also during this period 52 cases of AIDS<\/strong> \u2014 the final and most severe stage of HIV infection \u2014 were recorded in the region. 22 people<\/strong> died from diseases caused by AIDS. Compared with the same period in 2025<\/strong>, the number of new HIV infection cases decreased \u2014 from 185<\/strong> to 161<\/strong>. The number of newly registered AIDS cases also became smaller \u2014 from 57<\/strong> to 52<\/strong>. At the same time, the number of deaths from diseases caused by AIDS has practically not changed: 22 cases in 2026<\/strong> versus 21 cases in 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The most common route of HIV transmission remains sexual<\/strong>. Over the six months of this year 139 people<\/strong> were infected this way, while last year \u2014 170<\/strong>. The parenteral route of transmission, that is through blood, was registered in 21 cases<\/strong> compared to 14<\/strong> in 2025. Mother-to-child transmission of HIV was recorded in 1 case<\/strong>, whereas last year there were 2<\/strong> such cases. Among newly registered cases of HIV infection \u2014 104 men<\/strong> and 57 women<\/strong>. For comparison, in the same period last year 105 men<\/strong> and 81 women<\/strong> were registered.<\/p>\n

Medics note that despite the positive trend toward a decrease in the number of new cases, the problem of HIV infection remains relevant. HIV can remain asymptomatic for a long time, so the only way to know your HIV status is to get tested<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminds that reducing the risk of infection is helped by using condoms<\/strong>, avoiding sharing syringes and other instruments that come into contact with blood<\/strong>, regular HIV testing<\/strong>, as well as timely consultation with a doctor<\/strong> and the start of antiretroviral therapy<\/strong> if the diagnosis is confirmed.<\/p>\n

Experts emphasize:<\/strong> knowing your HIV status, a responsible attitude to health, and modern prevention methods help reduce the risk of infection and preserve quality of life.<\/p>\n
