In Mykolaiv, the director of a limited liability company engaged in road construction was notified of suspicion of embezzling budget funds during the ongoing repair of the road surface in one of the neighborhoods of the regional center. According to the police, the amount of damage to the community exceeds 581 thousand hryvnias.<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, the head of the company knew that the works to install the asphalt concrete pavement were not carried out in full and did not comply with the project documentation and the requirements of the State Building Codes.<\/p>\n
Despite this, law enforcement believes he signed the certificate of acceptance of the completed construction works containing deliberately false information about their proper completion.<\/p>\n
The police noted that this certificate served as the basis for transferring budget funds to the contractor’s account.<\/p>\n
After inspections and expert examinations, investigators established that the community suffered damages of over 581 thousand hryvnias.<\/p>\n
The circumstances of the case were uncovered by investigators of the investigative department of the regional police headquarters, with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department in Mykolaiv region of the Department for Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine (DSR NPU), and under the procedural guidance of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.<\/p>\n
The suspect was notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2014 appropriation and embezzlement of another’s property by abuse of official position, committed under martial law \u2014 and under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2014 drawing up and issuing knowingly false official documents.<\/p>\n
The penalties under the charged articles provide for up to eight years of imprisonment with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years. The court imposed bail as a preventive measure on the suspect; the pre-trial investigation continues.<\/p>\n
