The teenager died at the scene; the man was hospitalized.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"598\" data-end=\"956\">The incident was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City <a href=\"https:\/\/kyiv.gp.gov.ua\/ua\/news.html?_m=publications&amp;_c=view&amp;_t=rec&amp;id=426299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prosecutor&#8217;s office<\/a> and the communications department of the capital&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UA.KyivPolice\/posts\/pfbid02H2k76ikNmQn8GxY8TEhpcNphNjycHYXEo3FShYaU4shCMGGibWyBsqZGv6WuxJy4l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">police<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"958\" data-end=\"1216\">The road traffic accident occurred at about <strong data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1031\">15:30 on July 18, 2026<\/strong> on Boryspil Highway in the Darnytskyi district. The father and son were riding their bicycles on the shoulder in the same direction from <strong data-start=\"1148\" data-end=\"1157\">Kyiv<\/strong> to the village of <strong data-start=\"1166\" data-end=\"1177\">Shchaslyve<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1432\">According to the investigation, the <strong data-start=\"1239\" data-end=\"1262\">27-year-old BMW driver<\/strong> decided to overtake another vehicle on the right, crossed a solid road marking line and drove onto the shoulder. There the car ran over the cyclists who were riding ahead.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1676\">After the impact the BMW moved into the second lane and collided with a KIA Rio driving-school car. From the sustained injuries the 17-year-old cyclist died at the scene of the accident, and his 44-year-old father was taken to hospital.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1678\" data-end=\"1844\">A check showed that the BMW driver was in a state of alcohol intoxication.
