A nighttime conflict near an entertainment venue in the center of Mykolaiv<\/strong> was accompanied by gunshots and the use of pepper spray canisters. After the incident, one of the security company’s employees lost consciousness and died.<\/p>\n

This was on 17 July 2026<\/strong> reported<\/a> by the communications department of the Mykolaiv Regional Police.<\/p>\n

A report about a conflict on Soborna<\/strong> Street was received on the emergency line 102<\/strong> at around 23:50 on 16 July<\/strong>. A witness reported gunshots and a man with an object resembling a pistol.<\/p>\n

Patrol officers, the detective-operational team of police station No.1<\/strong> of the Mykolaiv District Department, and the forensic laboratory arrived at the scene. However, participants in the conflict had left the scene before the law enforcement officers arrived.<\/p>\n

A representative of the security firm told police that his partner had lost consciousness. The medics who arrived on the call declared the man dead.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary investigative data, the conflict began between a group of young people and a taxi driver. A security guard intervened in the dispute and fired several shots into the air from a pistol chambered for Flobert cartridges. Other participants in the conflict and the second security guard used pepper spray canisters.<\/p>\n

The police seized the weapon and the pepper spray canisters.<\/p>\n

During the initial examination of the body, the forensic medical expert did not find signs of a violent death. The final cause of the guard’s death is to be determined by a forensic medical examination.<\/p>\n

Police have already identified all participants in the nighttime incident and are interviewing them. The question of the legal classification of the event is also being decided.<\/p>\n
