The Cyber Police published<\/a> an action plan for users who have lost control of their Telegram account<\/strong> or noticed suspicious activity in it. Attackers can gain access to profiles through phishing links, fake bots, and messages allegedly from support services.<\/p>\n

In case of a hack, you should first contact Telegram support<\/strong>. In your request, describe the problem in detail, provide a link to the account and the phone number associated with it, and, if necessary, attach screenshots. It is preferable to submit the request from the device on which the messenger was previously used.<\/p>\n

You should also warn acquaintances via other communication channels. Scammers may send phishing links, malicious files, or ask for money on controlled accounts on behalf of the profile owner.<\/p>\n

If correspondence contains photos of documents, financial data, passwords, or other confidential information, interlocutors are advised to ask to delete the relevant chats for both sides<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All passwords for other services and online banking that were stored in Telegram should be considered compromised. They should be changed as soon as possible and two-factor authentication<\/strong> should be set up.<\/p>\n

The Cyber Police also advises trying to sign in to the profile again. If the user is immediately kicked out after authorization, attempts should be continued later, including at night. It is recommended to receive the login code via SMS or email, not via messages within Telegram itself.<\/p>\n

If you cannot regain access, the account can be deleted. Along with it you will lose your chats, but attackers will no longer be able to use the profile.<\/p>\n

If access to the account is still available, open the “Profile” \u2014 “Devices”<\/strong> section and terminate any unknown sessions. If in doubt, click “Terminate all other sessions”.<\/p>\n

After that, in the “Privacy and Security” \u2014 “Two-step Verification”<\/strong> section you need to set a strong password and specify an email address for its recovery. Also check whether scammers have changed the email address.<\/p>\n

The Cyber Police emphasizes: do not follow suspicious links and do not share one-time SMS confirmation codes with third parties<\/strong>. Official representatives of companies and government bodies do not request such information.<\/p>\n
