The United States carried out a new large-scale series of strikes on the territory of Iran<\/strong> after attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz<\/strong>. At the same time Washington<\/strong> revoked a license that allowed the sale of Iranian oil, and President Donald Trump<\/strong> said the ceasefire regime had ended and the negotiation process with Tehran<\/strong> had effectively collapsed.<\/p>\n

This was reported on 7 July 2026<\/strong> by the agency Reuters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)<\/strong>, U.S. forces struck more than 80<\/strong> targets. The strikes hit air defense systems, command-and-control networks, coastal radar stations, as well as anti-ship missile systems.<\/p>\n

In addition, in the area of the Strait of Hormuz<\/strong>, U.S. forces attacked more than 60<\/strong> small boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps<\/strong>. In CENTCOM<\/strong> they said the operation was aimed at destroying Iran’s ability to carry out attacks on international commercial shipping.<\/p>\n

Explosions were heard on the islands of Kharg<\/strong> and Qeshm<\/strong>, as well as in the southern port cities of Sirik<\/strong> and Bandar Abbas<\/strong>. Iranian state media reported several people wounded by debris in Sirik<\/strong>, damage to berths and fires on fishing boats.<\/p>\n

At the same time, U.S. command did not confirm reports of a strike on the island of Kharg<\/strong>, where the country’s main oil export terminal is located.<\/p>\n

In Washington<\/strong> they said the operation was a response to attacks on three commercial vessels that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz<\/strong> or were near it. According to preliminary U.S. information, Iranian forces opened fire on the civilian ships. Iran<\/strong> denies its involvement in these attacks.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the U.S.<\/strong> reinstated tough sanctions on Iran’s oil sector. The previously issued license allowed the sale of crude oil, petroleum products and petrochemical goods of Iranian origin until 21 August 2026<\/strong>. After its revocation, all operations already under way must be completed by 17 July 2026<\/strong>, and the signing of new contracts is prohibited.<\/p>\n

Against the backdrop of the new escalation, President Donald Trump<\/strong> said the ceasefire regime between the U.S.<\/strong> and Iran<\/strong> is no longer in effect. According to him, negotiations with Tehran<\/strong> have lost all meaning, and the diplomatic path to resolve the conflict is now effectively exhausted.<\/p>\n
