In the occupied Oleshky<\/strong> in the Kherson region, no food or medicine has been brought in since 26 May<\/strong>, departures for civilians have almost stopped, and the humanitarian situation is deteriorating, according to the head of the Oleshky city military administration Tetiana Hasanenko, writes “Vhoru”.<\/p>\n

The official noted that since May not a single vehicle has left Oleshky<\/strong> and no food or medicines are arriving in the city, and because of continuous shelling, drone strikes and fires it is practically impossible to organize an evacuation.<\/p>\n

Within the Oleshky<\/strong> community about six thousand people remain, including at least 150<\/strong> children; approximately two thousand residents live in Oleshky<\/strong> itself.<\/p>\n

According to Hasanenko, people are supporting each other by exchanging provisions, and at the local market only small amounts of produce and isolated remnants of food can be found; the most requested items are potatoes and eggs, the prices of which have risen to sky-high levels.<\/p>\n

Because of the lack of animal feed, owners have nothing to feed their domestic animals, and bank cards cannot be used, since to withdraw cash one must leave the city, which is now almost inaccessible.<\/p>\n

Wounded civilians are in the local hospital, but due to a lack of electricity and fuel for generators the facility is operating under extremely difficult conditions, and the only pharmacy attached to the hospital has run out of medicines.<\/p>\n

The destroyed morgue further complicates the situation: the bodies of the deceased are being kept in the hospital basement, and burials are effectively blocked because the occupation authorities demand a forensic medical examination, which cannot be carried out now.<\/p>\n

According to the head of the city military administration, Russian servicemen are hiding in residents’ basements and private houses, disguising themselves as civilians, including women; at the same time there are no representatives of the occupation administration in the community.<\/p>\n

Earlier the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to ensure a “ceasefire” for evacuations from Oleshky<\/strong>. Prior to that, Ukrainian forces had tried to deliver food and medicines to residents of temporarily occupied Oleshky<\/strong> using large drones.<\/p>\n
