During the first half of 2026<\/strong>, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language received 1501<\/strong> citizen complaints regarding compliance with language legislation.<\/p>\n

The Secretariat clarified that of these, 1378<\/strong> complaints concerned possible violations of the Law ‘On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language’, which is 12<\/strong> complaints more compared to the same period last year, and published the corresponding statistics on its website, providing a breakdown by regions and areas of violations.<\/p>\n

The most reports came from Kyiv<\/strong> \u2014 507<\/strong>. The top five territories with the highest figures also included Odesa region \u2014 254<\/strong>, Kharkiv \u2014 166<\/strong>, Dnipropetrovsk \u2014 122<\/strong> and Kyiv region \u2014 43<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

By sector, the most complaints concerned violations in website sections and online representations \u2014 364<\/strong> complaints, in advertising and on signage \u2014 229<\/strong>, during service provision \u2014 213<\/strong>, in education \u2014 98<\/strong>, in information about goods and services \u2014 98<\/strong>, in the field of culture \u2014 76<\/strong>, in the work of government bodies \u2014 70<\/strong>, in the media \u2014 69<\/strong>, and in healthcare \u2014 27<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For context: in the first half of 2025<\/strong> there were 1410<\/strong> complaints recorded, which is 348<\/strong> more than in the same period of 2024<\/strong>, while overall for 2025<\/strong> the number of complaints increased by 26%<\/strong> year-on-year.<\/p>\n
