Police have notified suspicion against a 30-year-old<\/strong> driver of a Hyundai Accent who, according to the investigation, while intoxicated caused a fatal road traffic accident in the village of Chornomorka in Mykolaiv district<\/strong>. As a result of the vehicle overturning and catching fire, a 20-year-old passenger<\/strong> died.<\/p>\n

This was reported<\/strong> on July 7, 2026<\/strong> by the Communications Department of the Mykolaiv Oblast Police<\/a>. The man was informed of the suspicion on July 6 under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred on July 4, 2026<\/strong> at approximately 20:15<\/strong> in the village of Chornomorka of the Chornomorska community. According to law enforcement, the 30-year-old man driving the Hyundai Accent left the roadway, after which the car overturned and caught fire.<\/p>\n

As a result of the crash, the 20-year-old passenger sustained injuries incompatible with life and died. The driver, with bodily injuries, was hospitalized in a medical facility, where he remains under doctors’ supervision.<\/p>\n

During procedural actions, police determined that the driver was intoxicated. He registered 0.81\u2030 blood alcohol content<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Investigators from the Transport Crime Investigation Department of the regional police headquarters informed the man of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. This concerns a violation of traffic safety rules by a person operating a vehicle while intoxicated, if this caused the death of the victim.<\/p>\n

A court is expected to choose a preventive measure for the suspect in the near future. If found guilty, the man faces up to 10 years in prison<\/strong> with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 5 to 10 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
