In Mykolaiv<\/strong> the collection of the Mykolaiv<\/strong> Zoo was joined by a young female camel, Leyla, her arrival was announced by the facility director Volodymyr Topchiy.<\/p>\n

According to the management, the new female is the daughter of the camel Zaurbek, who was born in the Mykolaiv<\/strong> Zoo and was later transferred to the Odesa<\/strong> BIO-Park as part of an animal breeding program.<\/p>\n

“23 June 2020<\/strong> a small male camel was born into the family of Mykolaiv’s two-humped camels. They named him Zaurbek. He spent three years growing up in the Mykolaiv<\/strong> Zoo and, at the special request of the Odesa<\/strong> BIO-Park, under a breeding agreement, on 10 October 2023<\/strong> he went to Odesa<\/strong>. He successfully fulfilled the task that was set for him, and from an Odesa female a daughter was born on 1 June 2025<\/strong>. Today she arrived at the Mykolaiv<\/strong> Zoo and we named her Leyla here,” \u2014 said Volodymyr Topchiy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Leyla’s arrival was the result of an inter-zoo exchange under a breeding agreement: her father Zaurbek grew up in Mykolaiv<\/strong>, sired offspring in Odesa<\/strong>, after which the young was transferred to the zoo where the sire had originally been born.<\/p>\n
