In Mykolaiv, authorities plan to allocate 1.3 million<\/strong> hryvnias per year to insure the liability of members of the supervisory board of the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivvodokanal”.<\/p>\n

On June 24<\/strong>, 2026, the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council considered the corresponding draft decision.<\/p>\n

The deputy director of the Department of Housing and Communal Services, Ihor Nabatov<\/strong>, explained that such insurance is provided for in the enterprise’s charter, the contracts of the supervisory board members, and the regulations on its activities.<\/p>\n

According to him, 1.3 million hryvnias is the cost of insuring the entire supervisory board for one year.<\/p>\n

“This amount today is not small \u2014 1.3 million hryvnias per year. But this applies to all members of the supervisory board”, \u2014 said the official.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At first, while studying the market the city received offers under which insurance for just one board member could cost about one million hryvnias per year.<\/p>\n

After negotiations with various insurance companies, according to Ihor Nabatov, they were able to find an option that allows insuring all members of the supervisory board for 1.3 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n

The insurance is to cover financial liability that may arise from decisions made by board members.<\/p>\n

In particular, if a decision of the supervisory board causes losses to the municipal enterprise and its members are held materially liable, the insurance company should cover the corresponding costs.<\/p>\n

Ihor Nabatov noted that there have been no such cases at Mykolaivvodokanal so far. At the same time, board members make important decisions that may have significant financial consequences for the enterprise.<\/p>\n

The draft decision was prepared to allow the water utility to conduct the procurement of the insurance service. So far, there has been no report of a contract being signed or the actual payment of 1.3 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n
