In Dnipro<\/strong>, law enforcement detained three<\/strong> men suspected of extorting a non-existent debt from a 20-year-old<\/strong> acquaintance. According to the police, the suspects tried to force the victim to give them $10,000<\/strong> through threats and violence.<\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> on June 15, 2026 by the National Police of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to law enforcement, the crime involved two<\/strong> brothers and their accomplice. Police noted that the suspects are local residents; two<\/strong> of them are natives of other countries and own a restaurant business.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred back in October 2025<\/strong>. At that time the perpetrators baselessly accused the 20-year-old acquaintance of stealing their property and began demanding money supposedly as compensation for damages.<\/p>\n

They assessed the amount of the fabricated debt at $10,000. After that, according to police, the man was immediately put on the “counter”, increasing the pressure on him.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement established that the suspects, threatening with a weapon, forced the victim into a car, struck him with a stun gun and drove him to a garage. There the man was beaten, in particular with a metal jump rope.<\/p>\n

After the abuse the victim was doused with cold water, his car keys were taken and he was released. At the same time, according to police, he was threatened with death if he contacted law enforcement.<\/p>\n

Such actions, police say, were repeated multiple times. The perpetrators tried to force the victim to sell his apartment in order to supposedly settle the fabricated debt with them.<\/p>\n

Unable to withstand the pressure and fearing for his life, the man gave the suspects part of the money, after which he sought help from the police.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, law enforcement together with officers of the SBU<\/strong> detained the suspects. During searches, mobile phones were seized from them, items that could have been used to beat the victim, as well as substances resembling narcotic drugs.<\/p>\n

The three men have now been notified of suspicion of extortion. The article’s sanction provides for up to 12 years<\/strong> imprisonment with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n

The pre-trial investigation continues. The final guilt of the suspects must be established by a court.<\/p>\n
