According to the police, the head of one of the city\u2019s educational institutions employed acquaintances who in fact did not work but received salaries from the budget. The total amount of losses, according to the investigation, amounted to nearly <strong data-start=\"1067\" data-end=\"1088\">800 thousand hryvnias<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1224\">This was reported on <strong data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1158\">8 June 2026<\/strong> by the police communications department in the <strong data-start=\"1198\" data-end=\"1223\">Mykolaiv region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1226\" data-end=\"1521\">According to the pre-trial investigation, the scheme operated from <strong data-start=\"1276\" data-end=\"1297\">September 2022<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"1301\" data-end=\"1322\">August 2025<\/strong>. Law enforcement considers the organizer to be a <strong data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1378\">43-year-old<\/strong> head of an educational institution that belongs to the sphere of management of the Department of Education and Science of the <strong data-start=\"1470\" data-end=\"1520\">Mykolaiv Regional State Administration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1523\" data-end=\"1818\">According to the investigation, the official, using his position during <strong data-start=\"1523\" data-end=\"1818\">martial law<\/strong>, hired three acquaintances at the institution. Formally they were employees of the institution; however, as law enforcement claims, they did not show up at workplaces and did not actually provide any educational services.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"2109\">At the same time, each month they were paid salaries from the state budget. Later these funds, according to the police, were transferred to bank accounts opened in the name of the head of the institution and his relatives. The head of the educational institution is charged under Part <strong data-start=\"2455\" data-end=\"2460\">4<\/strong> of Article <strong data-start=\"2465\" data-end=\"2472\">191<\/strong> of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2014 appropriation and embezzlement of another\u2019s property by abusing official position, committed under martial law.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2618\" data-end=\"2860\">Three of his acquaintances were notified of suspicion under Part <strong data-start=\"2667\" data-end=\"2672\">5<\/strong> of Article <strong data-start=\"2677\" data-end=\"2683\">27<\/strong>, Part <strong data-start=\"2688\" data-end=\"2693\">4<\/strong> of Article <strong data-start=\"2698\" data-end=\"2705\">191<\/strong> of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2014 assisting in the appropriation of another\u2019s property by an official through abuse of office, also committed under martial law.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2862\" data-end=\"3041\">Under this article, the suspects face up to <strong data-start=\"2903\" data-end=\"2914\">8 years<\/strong> of imprisonment with additional disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to <strong data-start=\"3029\" data-end=\"3040\">3 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3043\" data-end=\"3210\">Currently, the issue of imposing preventive measures on the suspects is being decided. Investigators have also filed a petition with the court to suspend the head of the institution from his position.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3212\" data-end=\"3567\">Law enforcement is checking whether other persons may be involved in this scheme. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
