The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a number of decisions concerning support for internally displaced persons and the provision of housing for family-type children’s homes. In particular, the government increased the compensation period for institutions hosting displaced people without documents from 60<\/strong> to 90 days<\/strong>. This was reported on 7 June<\/strong> 2026 by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko<\/strong>. Similar details of the decision were also conveyed by Ukrainian media citing her statement.<\/p>\n

These are institutions that provide shelter to internally displaced persons who have lost their documents<\/strong> due to the war. Extending the compensation period is intended to give such institutions more time to receive reimbursement for hosting people who, because of Russian aggression, were left without homes and documents.<\/p>\n

The government also expanded the options for confirming that housing has been destroyed or damaged. Now a remote inspection report<\/strong> can be used for this purpose. This is important for people who cannot quickly or safely obtain standard documents about the condition of their housing.<\/p>\n

Separately, transparency of the compensation system is being changed. In the Pension Fund’s electronic cabinet it will be possible to view information about compensation decisions, reasons for refusals, the calculation of its amount, and payments already credited.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Cabinet adopted a decision on providing housing for family-type children’s homes. The procedure and conditions for granting subsidies from the state budget have been defined. Priority is planned to be given to families who evacuated because of the war, lost their homes, or are returning to Ukraine from abroad. The State Budget for 2026<\/strong> allocates UAH 833 million<\/strong> to provide housing for family-type children’s homes.<\/p>\n

For Mykolaiv<\/strong> and the Korablev District<\/strong>, the issue of compensation for war-damaged housing remains particularly relevant. The district continues to process residents’ applications under the program “eRecovery”<\/strong>: as of 15 May 2026<\/strong>, 1375 applications<\/strong> were being processed, of which 1313<\/strong> have already been handled.<\/p>\n

The new government decisions matter especially for people who, due to the war, have lost not only housing but also documents or the ability to quickly confirm the condition of a destroyed home. At the same time, the main question remains practical: how quickly will these mechanisms start working on the ground and will people be able to receive the assistance they are entitled to without excessive bureaucracy?<\/p>\n
