In the evening of 31 May<\/strong> in the Pryvilne community of Mykolaiv Oblast<\/strong> a 64<\/strong>-year-old local resident fired a shotgun at a neighbor’s dog; the animal died from its injury. Investigators identified a suspect and informed him of suspicion of animal cruelty, which carries up to 8<\/strong> years in prison.<\/p>\n

The Department of Police Communications and the Prosecutor’s Office of Mykolaiv Oblast reported the incident and the procedural actions regarding the suspect.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, a 41<\/strong>-year-old owner contacted law enforcement and reported that an unknown person had shot her tied 4<\/strong>-month-old Central Asian Shepherd puppy in the yard, and the animal died on the spot.<\/p>\n

Within a few hours, police established the involvement of a 64<\/strong>-year-old fellow villager, who explained that he allegedly mistook the dog for another animal that was damaging his property and killing domestic poultry.<\/p>\n

The man has been charged with animal cruelty; the sanction of the incriminated article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 8<\/strong> years.<\/p>\n
