In Kyiv<\/strong>, police detained a man suspected of an attack on pensioners<\/strong>, assault and robbery. This was reported on May 30, 2026<\/strong> by the press service of the Kyiv<\/strong> police.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on Almatynska Street<\/strong> in the Dniprovskyi District of Kyiv<\/strong>. An 83-year-old woman<\/strong> contacted the police to report a crime in her apartment. According to the investigation, an unknown man knocked on the apartment door. When the woman’s 63-year-old son<\/strong> opened it, the man immediately attacked him with his fists. To prevent the woman from calling for help, the attacker also beat her.<\/p>\n

After frightening the apartment owners, the assailant not only stayed in their home but also spent the night there<\/strong>. In the morning he fled, taking a mobile phone and money. During search activities, police established that the attack may be linked to a 48-year-old local resident<\/strong> who had previously served multiple sentences for property crimes.<\/p>\n

Operatives together with criminal analysis analysts identified the suspect, after which investigators detained him in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. Also, during the pre-trial investigation law enforcement established that the detainee may be connected to two more thefts<\/strong> that occurred the day before. According to the police, he stole a bicycle and a mobile phone from two city residents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Investigators seized physical evidence from the detainee and informed him of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong> – robbery involving violence that is not dangerous to the life or health of the victim, committed repeatedly, combined with unlawful entry into a dwelling and committed under martial law<\/strong>. The article’s sanction provides for up to 10 years’ imprisonment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Investigative actions are ongoing. It is also being decided how to legally qualify other crimes the suspect may be involved in.<\/p>\n
