In Mykolaiv<\/strong>, the head of the municipal enterprise \u00abMykolaivvodokanal\u00bb, Hennadii Iziumov, during a meeting with journalists summarizing his first 100<\/strong> days in office warned that the water from residents\u2019 taps will not become potable instantly, even with the commissioning of the treatment facilities.<\/p>\n

He clarified that the treatment facilities are currently operated by the Regional Office of Water Resources, while the water utility\u2019s specialists, together with colleagues, are getting acquainted with the project documentation and submitting technical comments.<\/p>\n

\u00abI can say one thing: the water quality is significantly better than last year. At present it does not meet standards on one indicator \u2014 oxidizability. Specialists are working on this. The water utility is involved at this stage as support and for water analysis\u00bb, \u2014 said the director of the municipal enterprise \u00abMykolaivvodokanal\u00bb, Hennadii Iziumov.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to him, laboratory tests are carried out daily: samples are taken at the inlet and outlet of the treatment facilities, as well as at various locations across Mykolaiv<\/strong>. Additional laboratories have been involved in monitoring to strengthen the checks of the parameters.<\/p>\n

The head of the enterprise emphasized that achieving stable quality requires time and continuous monitoring, and only after a period of consistent results can it be stated that the water meets drinking standards.<\/p>\n

\u00abWe must understand that \u00abat the snap of a finger\u00bb the water will not become potable. Certain actions must be taken and, above all, this source must be conditioned for a certain period. Throughout this period samples must be taken, and only after stable indicators can one conclude that this is drinking water. The water is already fresh, and we feel this, in particular through a reduction in emergency incidents on the water supply networks\u00bb, \u2014 said the director of the municipal enterprise \u00abMykolaivvodokanal\u00bb, Hennadii Iziumov.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Iziumov also reported that, in the future, the treatment facilities themselves are planned to be transferred to the municipal enterprise’s balance, while the water supply networks will continue to remain under the management of the Regional Office of Water Resources.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, earlier the mayor of Mykolaiv<\/strong>, Oleksandr Senkevych, suggested that potable water could appear in residents’ taps as early as this month.<\/p>\n
