An outbreak of acute intestinal infection has been recorded in the Mykolaiv region: after a memorial meal in the village of Lukanivka in Pervomaiskyi district, 13<\/strong> people were taken to hospitals during 23\u201324 May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The cases were reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, publishing a message on its Facebook page at the link here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Medical staff clarified that the affected people were sent to the infectious disease departments of hospitals in Pervomaiskyi district and the town of Vradiivka<\/strong>, where they sought help at different times over the two days.<\/p>\n

The hospitalized patients showed fever, nausea, repeated vomiting, diarrhea occurring 4\u20137<\/strong> times per day, and abdominal pain, consistent with the clinical presentation of acute intestinal infection.<\/p>\n

Specialists have launched an epidemiological investigation: they are collecting samples of food, water and surface swabs for laboratory testing, compiling a full list of dishes consumed by participants of the memorial meal, and examining the persons who prepared the food.<\/p>\n

At the same time, an active search for additional potential cases among event participants and their contacts has been organized to prevent further spread of the infection.<\/p>\n

Relevant services and local authorities have been involved to coordinate actions on site, monitor sanitary conditions and provide necessary support to medical teams.<\/p>\n

The source of the pathogen and routes of transmission are currently being established, and the situation is under constant observation. Earlier, 4<\/strong> outbreaks of acute intestinal infections were already recorded in Mykolaiv<\/strong> and the region, as previously reported at the link here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
