In Pervomaisk<\/strong> in the Mykolaiv region<\/strong>, the construction of modular houses for internally displaced persons is ongoing, this was reported on 21 May 2026<\/strong> by Suspilne Mykolaiv. The project is being implemented with the support of the Kingdom of Denmark<\/strong>, and the new homes are intended to serve as temporary housing for people who lost their homes due to the war or were forced to leave occupied territories. Currently builders are erecting 14 modular houses<\/strong>, each designed with a three-room<\/strong> layout. The structures themselves are manufactured in Ivano-Frankivsk<\/strong>, after which the finished parts are transported to the Mykolaiv region<\/strong> and installed on a prepared foundation.<\/p>\n

“These houses under the Danish project are built by us, Ukrainians, in Ivano-Frankivsk. Then we place the two halves of the already finished house onto the prepared foundation; only the utilities remain to be connected: water, sewage and electricity”, – explained the representative of the construction organization Yurii.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The houses are made of wood but are insulated. Inside they feature a modern layout: large windows, a fireplace, and a kitchen in a studio-room format. At the same time builders say not everyone perceives this housing format the same way, since wooden structures have their own characteristics.<\/p>\n

But from experience I know there are people who do not like that the house creaks, but wood is alive – it breathes. There are those who want to add extensions. Yet the majority are satisfied, especially those who left everything in the occupied territories or lost their homes after drone attacks”, – said Yurii.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In one of these modular houses the builders who are working on connecting utilities are temporarily living themselves. They say that inside it is quite spacious, and the format resembles modern minimalism.<\/p>\n

“It is quite comfortable and spacious here, and it is even fashionable now – minimalism. Not all our people are used to this, but to receive such housing at the state’s expense – that is something to be grateful for,” said builder Serhii<\/strong>, who temporarily lives in a module and considers these conditions fully suitable for living.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The press service of the city executive committee reported that lists of people planned to be settled in the new houses are currently being formed. Representatives of donor organizations are involved in the process, checking the priority of applications and the conformity of future residents to the selection criteria.<\/p>\n

“Representatives of donor organizations carry out an assessment of the priority of applications, the correct determination of categories of future residents and the compliance with selection criteria in order to ensure a fair and transparent approach to providing housing to those families most affected by the war and who need support,” reported the city executive committee.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

For the displaced people themselves, the key question remains the timing of settlement. People want to know whether the new houses will be ready before the cold season, as the need for housing remains acute.<\/p>\n

“Very interested in the timing. When can people expect to move in? Will they make it before winter? Very interested. Because we have a need,” – emphasized a displaced person from the Kherson region, Natalya Vlasenko<\/strong>, saying that it is important for people to know specific dates.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to the representative of the construction organization Yurii<\/strong>, the project is planned to be completed by the end of the year. Later, in Pervomaisk<\/strong> they want to create an entire modular town – in total with 50 houses<\/strong> for internally displaced persons.<\/p>\n
