Symbolically, on the third Thursday of May people wear vyshyvankas as a sign of respect for culture, history, and national identity. For many Ukrainians the vyshyvanka is not just clothing but a protective talisman that for generations preserves the people&#8217;s memory, strength, and traditions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"482\" data-end=\"703\">On the occasion of the holiday a large-scale vyshyvanka parade took place in the center of <strong data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"519\">Mykolaiv<\/strong>. Hundreds of city residents participated in the event \u2014 officials, athletes, students and people of different ages who came in national dress.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"922\">The festive column marched down the city\u2019s central street to <strong data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"776\">Soborna Square<\/strong>.
