18 May <\/strong>2026 the press service of MKP “Mykolaivvodokanal”<\/strong> reported that the enterprise appealed to the National Agency on Corruption Prevention<\/strong> with a request to carry out an unscheduled inspection of its anti-corruption activities.<\/p>\n

This appeal was initiated by the Supervisory Board of MKP “Mykolaivvodokanal”<\/strong>. The enterprise explains that the decision was made to obtain an independent assessment of its anti-corruption work and to strengthen trust in the water utility among employees, residents of Mykolaiv<\/strong> and international partners.<\/p>\n

In the statement itself the enterprise emphasizes that anti-corruption activity must be professional and lawful. In fact, this is an attempt to show that internal changes at the water utility should be examined not only within the structure but also by an external state body.<\/p>\n

This appeal appeared against the backdrop of a difficult situation surrounding “Mykolaivvodokanal”<\/strong>. Earlier the enterprise had already reported a deep crisis, financial problems and the need to reform management.<\/strong> In April there were also public statements from employees and deputies about a conflict around the leadership and the need for inspections.<\/p>\n

Separately, the water utility\u2019s management previously reported tightened control over resources, procurement and internal security. Now another step is being added to this \u2014 an appeal to the NACP<\/strong> for an independent assessment of anti-corruption work.<\/p>\n

For Mykolaiv<\/strong> this issue carries particular weight, as “Mykolaivvodokanal”<\/strong> is one of the city\u2019s key municipal enterprises. Its stable operation affects water supply, service quality, network repairs and residents\u2019 trust in the city\u2019s municipal system.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the inspection itself, if carried out, should provide answers not only to formal questions. It is important for residents to understand whether transparent rules really operate at the enterprise, whether there is control over procurement and management decisions, and whether employees can report possible violations without fear.<\/p>\n
