A group of employees of the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivelektrotrans”<\/strong> set off for Sweden<\/strong>, to the city of Gothenburg<\/strong>, to study on site the features of the trams that are planned to be transferred to Mykolaiv<\/strong>. This was reported on May 14<\/strong>, 2026, by the mayor Oleksandr Senkevych<\/strong>. According to the mayor, it concerns 40 carriages<\/strong>. The city is now moving to the practical phase of implementing this project – preparing specialists who will thereafter work daily with this transport.<\/p>\n

In Gothenburg<\/strong> the employees of “Mykolaivelektrotrans”<\/strong> are to familiarize themselves with the equipment, learn how to maintain it, and get to grips with the processes of daily operation. It also concerns technical nuances without which launching such carriages in Mykolaiv<\/strong> would not be possible.<\/p>\n

This story has been going on for more than a month. It was previously reported that Mykolaiv<\/strong> is considering the possibility of receiving 40 tram cars<\/strong> of the M29<\/strong> model from Swedish Gothenburg<\/strong>, which are being withdrawn from service there but could still operate after appropriate preparation and adaptation. One of the key technical issues is the different track gauge: Mykolaiv<\/strong> and Gothenburg<\/strong> use different rail systems, so the carriages will require adaptation before a possible launch on city routes.<\/p>\n

Oleksandr Senkevych<\/strong> noted that the cooperation began several years ago during his trip to Stockholm<\/strong>, where he had a conversation with Ragnar Lund<\/strong>. According to the mayor, it was thanks to the work of Ragnar Lund<\/strong>, the government of Sweden<\/strong> and the city of Gothenburg<\/strong> that this project became a reality. The mayor also emphasized that the employees of “Mykolaivelektrotrans”<\/strong> represent in Sweden<\/strong> not only the needs of the city, but also the experience of the enterprise itself, which has a long history. Among the employees there are people who have devoted over 40 years<\/strong> of their lives to the enterprise.<\/p>\n
