In Kyiv, a 37-year-old professional athlete<\/strong> and a children’s Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach, who is accused of sexual violence against his students, will stand trial. This was reported on 12 May<\/strong> 2026 by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the man held individual lessons for children. The parents of one of the victims brought their 11-year-old daughter<\/strong> to him, expecting her development and socialization. The prosecutor’s office notes that the coach, being alone with the child, committed unlawful acts against her and repeated them thereafter. According to the investigation, he exploited the girl’s trust and her age-related vulnerability, persuading her to hide what was happening. The accused was exposed thanks to a hidden camera in the sports hall during another episode.<\/p>\n

After the case became public, another victim recognized him – a former trainee from Zaporizhzhia. She is abroad and later dared to tell about the violence which, according to her, she also suffered from this coach at the age of 11<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the Prosecutor General, the first crimes may have been committed as early as 2017<\/strong>, and the accused remained unpunished for eight years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The man’s actions were qualified as lewd acts against a minor and sexual violence against a person who had not reached 14 years of age<\/strong>, committed repeatedly, under Part 2 of Article 156 and Part 6 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ruslan Kravchenko emphasized that the protection of children is the duty of the state<\/strong>, and for crimes against minors there must be maximum accountability<\/strong>, especially when the perpetrator is a person whom the child trusted.<\/p>\n
