In the Odesa region, law enforcement thwarted the preparation of an attack at one of the educational institutions, which, according to the investigation, was coordinated by Russian handlers; the discovered threat was reported by the regional police communications department.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary information from investigators, 11-year-old<\/strong> a student of one of the lyceums established contact via social networks with handlers from the Russian Federation. They allegedly offered to send him a firearm and a knife free of charge so that he would attack his classmates.<\/p>\n

The minor provided the perpetrators with his personal details to send the package. Thanks to the prompt actions of officers of the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine, the plan was stopped at the preparatory stage.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement clarifies that the pupil himself and his family had not previously been involved in police cases and were not registered with social services. At the same time, parents are urged to more closely monitor adolescents’ behavior, control their activity on social networks, and immediately report suspicious contacts.<\/p>\n

Against the backdrop of this incident, law enforcement recalled a recent event in Zakarpattia: 16 April<\/strong> at one of the educational institutions in Uzhhorod district a student of the 9th<\/strong> grade brought a pistol to school and fired two shots in the classroom, wounding a classmate. Later the police released footage of the detention of the teenager who opened fire at the Chop<\/strong> lyceum.<\/p>\n

In addition, on Thursday, 23 April<\/strong>, in Lviv<\/strong> police detained a man who had carried out a shooting in a residential building.<\/p>\n

Another high-profile incident was the terrorist attack in Kyiv<\/strong> on the evening of 18 April<\/strong>: a man armed with an automatic rifle fired at passersby on the streets. The media later published the suspect’s details, and it was subsequently reported that a sixth victim had died of their injuries. Eventually the Mayor of Kyiv<\/strong>, Volodymyr Klychko, announced that the death toll had risen to seven.<\/p>\n

After the terrorist attack, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko instructed the Head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhovskyi, to conduct an official investigation into the actions of law enforcement. A criminal proceeding has been opened regarding the police officers who fled the scene; the head of the patrol police Zhukov resigned, and Vitalii Kim publicly spoke out against that decision.<\/p>\n
