In Zakarpattia<\/strong>, law enforcement detained the head of the military-medical commission, who is suspected of selling fictitious medical conclusions for those liable for military service. During a search, investigators found cash in various currencies amounting to the equivalent of almost 11 million UAH<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, this concerns a 60-year-old<\/strong> head of the MMC in Zakarpattia<\/strong>, who is suspected of organizing the receipt of undue benefits for issuing fictitious medical conclusions. The investigation believes the official demanded USD 6,000<\/strong> from a person liable for military service to facilitate passing the MMC and obtaining a conclusion of limited fitness for service.<\/p>\n

The case materials note that to issue such a conclusion they used existing medical documents without proper examinations, and diagnoses were confirmed formally. Part of the funds were documented by law enforcement under controlled conditions during the commission of the crime, after which the official was detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During a search conducted on 20 April 2026<\/strong>, investigators seized from the suspect more than USD 240,000<\/strong>, over EUR 3,000<\/strong>, nearly 1.3 million forints<\/strong> and over UAH 260,000<\/strong>. The total amount seized in hryvnia equivalent is about UAH 11 million<\/strong>. Among the items found were marked bills handed over as an advance as part of special control.<\/p>\n

The official’s actions were qualified under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. He has already been notified of suspicion. Prosecutors have initiated the imposition of a preventive measure in the form of detention, and have also raised the issue of suspending him from his position. The origin of the seized funds is being verified separately.<\/p>\n

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine<\/strong>, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in court.<\/p>\n
