The State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District, during a commission inspection, recorded 217<\/strong> trees in the green zone at the intersection of Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue and Kober Street in Mykolaiv<\/strong>, where LLC \u00ab\u0421\u0412\u0406\u0422 \u0417\u0414\u041e\u0420\u041e\u0412’\u042f\u00bb plans to erect an \u00ab\u0410\u0422\u0411\u00bb supermarket, an \u00ab\u041e\u041a\u041a\u041e\u00bb gas station and an auto parts store; as of April 16, 2026<\/strong> no preparatory or construction work is being carried out on the site.<\/p>\n

The inspection reported that the area at the intersection of Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue and Kober Street in Mykolaiv<\/strong> was examined by a commission with the participation of ecologists, representatives of the district administration, the housing and communal services department, as well as public activists and local residents.<\/p>\n

On the plot of 0.76<\/strong> ha, 217<\/strong> green plantings were counted, including self-seeded specimens. Oaks, elms, birches, poplars and acacias predominate \u2014 these form the main tree stand in this part of the city.<\/p>\n

Following the inspection, most of the trees \u2014 185<\/strong> units \u2014 are in good or satisfactory condition. Only 7<\/strong> specimens were recognized as standing dead or in unsatisfactory condition, so if construction begins a significant stand of healthy plantings would be under threat.<\/p>\n

The commission separately noted the high ecological value of this green area for the Inhulskyi District, as it forms a continuous protective “buffer” between transport arteries and residential development.<\/p>\n

Earlier reports said that preparatory works had begun on this site to construct an \u00ab\u0410\u0422\u0411\u00bb, an \u00ab\u041e\u041a\u041a\u041e\u00bb gas station and an auto shop in Mykolaiv<\/strong> (referring to the area between residential buildings and the site of the state enterprise NVCG \u00ab\u0417\u043e\u0440\u044f\u00bb-\u00ab\u041c\u0430\u0448\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0435\u043a\u0442\u00bb), which had previously been considered a green zone.<\/p>\n

After information appeared about the possible felling of 182<\/strong> trees in the oak grove in Mykolaiv<\/strong>, the situation was publicly commented on by Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, and the city\u2019s chief architect expressed surprise at the development plans.<\/p>\n

Soon a conflict erupted between officials and city council deputies over the transfer of land for the gas station, which would involve cutting down about 200<\/strong> oaks: the parties exchanged accusations of hiding data and violating procedures.<\/p>\n

The issue was put up for public discussion in Mykolaiv<\/strong>, after which the Ministry of Economy gave the controversial gas station project the “green light”. At the same time, the mayor assured that, according to him, no decisions had been made to fell the trees, and in 2025<\/strong> in Mykolaiv<\/strong> documents were officially drawn up to remove 875<\/strong> trees.<\/p>\n
