In Mykolaiv<\/strong>, a draft decision to raise tariffs for the collection and transportation of household waste for KP “Obriy-DKP”<\/strong> has been put on the agenda of the next meeting of the city council’s executive committee. The initiative for the changes is attributed to the enterprise itself, which explains the need to revise the tariffs by the necessity to ensure the proper sanitary condition of the city. If the decision is adopted, the new rates will come into effect on 1 May 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the draft, the tariff for mixed household waste is proposed to be raised from 271.81 UAH<\/strong> to 302.64 UAH<\/strong> per cubic meter. For bulky waste, an increase from 444.93 UAH<\/strong> to 561.48 UAH<\/strong> per cubic meter is proposed, and for renovation waste \u2014 from 427.74 UAH<\/strong> to 536.77 UAH<\/strong>. Thus, the largest increases are being set for bulky and renovation waste.<\/p>\n

The current tariffs for KP “Obriy-DKP”<\/strong> were approved by the executive committee’s decision at the end of December 2024<\/strong> and have been in effect since 1 January 2025<\/strong>. They currently amount to 271.81 UAH<\/strong> per cubic meter for mixed waste, 444.93 UAH<\/strong> \u2014 for bulky waste and 427.74 UAH<\/strong> \u2014 for renovation waste.<\/p>\n

For comparison, at KP “Mykolaivkomuntrans”<\/strong> lower rates have been in effect since the beginning of 2025<\/strong>: 246.11 UAH<\/strong> per cubic meter for mixed household waste and 277.84 UAH<\/strong> \u2014 for both bulky and renovation waste. Against this background, the new tariffs for “Obriy-DKP”<\/strong> look even more painful for consumers.<\/p>\n

In practice, this means that the city is again trying to shift the rise in municipal utility costs onto residents. And all this is happening against the background that at the end of March 2026<\/strong> the city council failed to approve an updated procedure for the operation of the household waste sorting complex \u2014 there were not enough votes to adopt the decision at that time, local media report.<\/p>\n

Thus, Mykolaiv residents are being asked to pay more even before the city presents a systemic solution for waste, sorting, and the overall approach to waste management. For many, this will look not like an improvement of the service but as yet another price increase without a guarantee of real change.<\/p>\n
