In the Mykolaiv region<\/strong>, resident of the Kryvoozerska community<\/strong>, Senior Lieutenant Denys Mirza<\/strong> was awarded the “<\/strong>“\u0417\u0430 \u043d\u0435\u0437\u043b\u0430\u043c\u043d\u0456\u0441\u0442\u044c”” award. As 0512<\/strong> reports with reference to the Mykolaiv Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support<\/strong>, the award was conferred on the serviceman at the recommendation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The awardee is 27 years old<\/strong>. He is originally from the village of Ternovate<\/strong> in the Mykolaiv region<\/strong>, raised in an ordinary family together with two younger sisters. His path to the military was not predetermined: at first he wanted to work as an investigator and serve the law, but in 2015<\/strong> he enrolled in the Military Institute of Tank Troops in Kharkiv<\/strong>, where he chose the specialty of radiation, chemical and biological protection. After completing his studies, in 2020<\/strong> he began service in the 36th Separate Marine Brigade<\/strong> as part of the 501st Separate Battalion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Denys Mirza met the full-scale invasion on the positions together with his comrades. At first he was the commander of the anti-tank reserve, and later the company commander. In 2022<\/strong> he, along with fighters of the 501st battalion<\/strong>, was captured and spent three years in captivity. During that time the occupiers staged a so-called “trial” and handed down a “life sentence” on fabricated charges. This fake verdict by Russian puppets was previously reported by Suspilne Donbas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The serviceman returned home on October 18, 2024<\/strong> as part of a prisoner exchange. After returning, he underwent treatment, recovery and rehabilitation. Later he joined the ReStart: From Idea to Veteran Business<\/strong> course, and now together with his wife runs their own greenhouse farming business. The report also notes that he quietly helps his native school.<\/p>\n

This story is not only about the award. It is about a person whom the Russians tried to break with captivity, pressure and a pseudo-trial, but who returned, endured and started life anew. For the Mykolaiv region<\/strong>, where hundreds of families still await their loved ones from captivity, such stories are especially painful and at the same time give hope.<\/p>\n
