During an open operational meeting on April 6<\/strong>, the director of the municipal enterprise Mykolaivvodokanal, Hennadiy Izyumov, reported that the water from residents’ taps in Mykolaiv<\/strong> has improved, but a final assessment of its quality can be made only in about a year.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, the head of the municipal enterprise detailed current indicators: some parameters still fall short of the norm. This primarily concerns color, turbidity and oxidizability, while chlorides and total hardness remain within standards.<\/p>\n

Water quality has improved. We had somewhat worse readings for color and turbidity. As of yesterday, color is 21\u00b0<\/strong> against a norm of 20\u00b0<\/strong>, turbidity \u2014 0.8<\/strong> mg\/dm\u00b3 against a norm of 0.58<\/strong>. Chlorides and total hardness are within norms. Oxidizability almost constantly exceeds the permissible level.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Izyumov<\/strong> noted that further improvement is possible in the coming weeks: the system is being cleaned, the flushing of reservoirs is being completed, and individual sections of the network are being flushed promptly at residents’ requests. In his view, this may be enough to bring the indicators closer to the regulatory values.<\/p>\n

At the same time he emphasized: balanced conclusions require a full annual cycle of operation of the new source taking into account seasonal factors \u2014 warming, algal blooms and other processes that affect water quality \u2014 as well as the stable operation of the treatment facilities provided by the Avtostrada group of companies.<\/p>\n

We will have a conclusion within a year. It is impossible to make it now, because the new source has not yet worked for a full year. Therefore the full picture will be clear when warmer weather comes, when bloom factors are added, etc. Then we will see how the treatment facilities provided by “Avtostrada” will perform.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
