The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim<\/strong> said<\/a> that the leader of the parliamentary faction “Servant of the People” David Arakhamia<\/strong>, who is taking part in the negotiation process on the peaceful settlement of the war, will advocate for the de-occupation of the Kinburn Spit<\/strong>. According to the regional head, this decision could open the way to restoring the operation of Mykolaiv ports and give a boost to the region’s economy, a large part of which before the full-scale war was tied to logistics and exports.<\/p>\n

In an interview with “Ekonomichna Pravda”<\/strong> Vitaliy Kim<\/strong> emphasized that by his estimates 30-40%<\/strong> of the region’s economy depended on the ports. He stressed that the Mykolaiv region<\/strong> has historically been a logistics hub, but that resource is effectively absent now, and the recovery strategy “South 2.0”<\/strong> is based on the idea that Ukraine\u2019s south must again have shipping and export potential.<\/p>\n

Regarding the participation of David Arakhamia<\/strong> in this matter, Vitaliy Kim<\/strong> said the following:<\/p>\n

“By my calculations, 30-40% of the region’s economy depended on the ports. We have always been a logistics hub; now it is gone. Our calculations for the region’s recovery, which are included in the strategy “South 2.0”, are based on the idea that the southern region must have shipping and export potential. Investors need the ports to be operational in order to reach markets in Europe and Central Asia.<\/p>\n

This is very important for Mykolaiv. This issue, I know, is part of the negotiations. In this negotiation group there is David Arakhamia, who is from Mykolaiv and clearly understands the problems of the south. He knows this not from books, but from personal experience”.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
