In the morning of 26 March<\/strong> 2026, the National Police of Ukraine<\/strong> reported that the man who the day before had shot at patrol officers in Odesa<\/strong> died during detention. According to law enforcement, the 45-year-old<\/strong> Odesa resident was hiding in an unfinished building, did not make contact with the negotiator and, during the special operation, opened fire on KORD<\/strong> fighters.<\/p>\n

The National Police<\/strong> stated that the use of force was forced, as the man posed a direct threat to the lives of law enforcement officers. After several hours of searching, police established his location: the suspect had hidden in an unfinished building. During negotiations he began shooting from the third floor at special forces, after which KORD<\/strong> fighters returned fire. As a result, the man died. Local media add that the detention took place in the village of Svitlye in the Odesa region.<\/p>\n

According to the police, this concerns a 45-year-old Odesa resident<\/strong> who was wanted for violating military registration rules. The day before, during a document check, he began shooting at patrol officers with an automatic rifle and fled by car. As a result of the attack two law enforcement officers sustained gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n

An investigative-operational team is currently working at the scene; the incident has been reported to the State Bureau of Investigation<\/strong> and the prosecutor’s office. Investigators are establishing the circumstances of the event.<\/p>\n

Recall that, according to the Ukrainian police, on the evening of 25 March<\/strong> 2026 in Odesa a driver suddenly opened fire on patrol police officers. The incident occurred during a document check of the driver. As a result, two patrol officers sustained gunshot wounds. The wounded are receiving necessary medical assistance. A special police operation was launched to apprehend the man. It is known that he is wanted for evading mobilization.<\/p>\n
