In the Korabelnyi district of the city of Mykolaiv<\/strong> on the evening of March 18<\/strong>, 2026 on Bohoyavlenskyi Ave.<\/strong> (in the area of the railway crossing, near the intersection of the avenue and Samoylovych<\/em> St.) a road traffic accident with casualties occurred: a car hit two pedestrians<\/strong><\/a> and, without stopping, drove away from the scene.<\/p>\n

According to the police, at about 18:55<\/strong> the emergency line 102 received a report that the driver of a Hyundai Tucson<\/strong> had struck two pedestrians \u2014 a 50-year-old woman<\/strong> and a 70-year-old man<\/strong>. According to preliminary data, they were crossing the roadway at an unmarked location. The victims<\/strong><\/a> with injuries were hospitalized: the man received assistance and was prescribed outpatient treatment, while doctors assess the woman’s condition as of moderate severity.<\/p>\n

After the accident the driver fled the scene. But police quickly established the location of the vehicle and its 35-year-old driver<\/strong> \u2014 he was found within a few minutes, a few blocks from the crash site. During the check, 1.3 per mille of alcohol<\/strong> was recorded in the driver.<\/p>\n

Investigators have opened a criminal proceeding in connection with this accident under part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The driver faces up to three years of imprisonment<\/strong> with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of three to five years.<\/p>\n
