Special websites with personal accounts were created for this, where users were shown a \u201cbalance\u201d and \u201caccrued profit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In reality, all those indicators were virtual, and victims\u2019 funds were immediately transferred to accounts controlled by the fraudsters after deposit.<\/p>\n<p>One of the scheme\u2019s organizers \u2014 a <strong>32<\/strong>-year-old Ukrainian citizen who is located in an EU country \u2014 has been charged in absentia under Part <strong>4<\/strong> of Article <strong>190<\/strong> of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The sanction provides for imprisonment for a term of from <strong>5<\/strong> to <strong>12<\/strong> years with confiscation of property.
