In the <\/span>Bashtanka <\/span>district <\/span>of Mykolaiv <\/span>region<\/span><\/strong> law enforcement <\/span>are investigating <\/span>a high-profile <\/span>murder <\/span>that <\/span>occurred <\/span>directly <\/span>in <\/span>the starosta’s office <\/span>of <\/span>one <\/span>of <\/span>the community’s villages. <\/span>According <\/span>to preliminary <\/span>police data, <\/span>during <\/span>a <\/span>conflict <\/span>the starosta <\/span>fired <\/span>a shot <\/span>from <\/span>a hunting shotgun <\/span>at <\/span>his <\/span>assistant; <\/span>the <\/span>woman <\/span>died <\/span>on <\/span>the <\/span>spot <\/span>from <\/span>the <\/span>wound.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police <\/span>leadership, <\/span>the <\/span>investigative-operational <\/span>team <\/span>of the district <\/span>department, <\/span>investigators <\/span>from the regional <\/span>directorate, <\/span>forensic <\/span>experts <\/span>and <\/span>criminal <\/span>investigation <\/span>operatives <\/span>arrived <\/span>promptly <\/span>on <\/span>the <\/span>call. <\/span>The <\/span>man <\/span>has <\/span>been <\/span>detained <\/span>in <\/span>the <\/span>course <\/span>of <\/span>procedural <\/span>actions, <\/span>and <\/span>the <\/span>weapon <\/span>has <\/span>been <\/span>seized. <\/span>Preliminary <\/span>investigative <\/span>actions <\/span>are <\/span>currently <\/span>underway <\/span>to <\/span>establish <\/span>the <\/span>full <\/span>picture <\/span>of <\/span>the <\/span>event <\/span>and <\/span>the <\/span>motives <\/span>for <\/span>the <\/span>crime.<\/span><\/p>\n

Activist <\/span>Bloshko<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>commenting<\/a> <\/span>on <\/span>the <\/span>tragedy, <\/span>said <\/span>there <\/span>may <\/span>have <\/span>been <\/span>a <\/span>long-standing <\/span>conflict <\/span>between <\/span>the <\/span>starosta <\/span>and <\/span>the <\/span>deceased, <\/span>and <\/span>also <\/span>accused <\/span>the <\/span>community <\/span>leadership <\/span>of <\/span>inaction.<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>Some <\/span>sad <\/span>news <\/span>in <\/span>the <\/span>Bashtanka <\/span>community\u2026 <\/span>What <\/span>a <\/span>pity <\/span>for <\/span>the <\/span>starosta <\/span>of <\/span>Plushchivka. <\/span>Viktor <\/span>Prokopchuk <\/span>sent <\/span>a <\/span>‘fiery’ <\/span>greeting <\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>mayor <\/span>of <\/span>Bashtanka, <\/span>the <\/span>underdeveloped <\/span>Oleksandr <\/span>Berehovyi, <\/span>as <\/span>if <\/span>from <\/span>a <\/span>true <\/span>starosta <\/span>and <\/span>war <\/span>veteran. <\/span>Berehovyi <\/span>mocked <\/span>the <\/span>veteran <\/span>with <\/span>the <\/span>help <\/span>of <\/span>a <\/span>local <\/span>henchwoman. <\/span>She <\/span>tormented <\/span>him, <\/span>insulted, <\/span>humiliated, <\/span>for <\/span>which <\/span>she <\/span>received <\/span>a <\/span>salary <\/span>from <\/span>Berehovyi, <\/span>and <\/span>support, <\/span>and <\/span>various <\/span>material <\/span>benefits. <\/span>Vanzhulykha <\/span>gossiped <\/span>throughout <\/span>the <\/span>village <\/span>and <\/span>beyond. <\/span>The <\/span>starosta <\/span>had <\/span>to <\/span>restore <\/span>order <\/span>by <\/span>the <\/span>method <\/span>he <\/span>chose <\/span>from <\/span>the <\/span>options <\/span>available. <\/span>She <\/span>reached <\/span>her <\/span>logical <\/span>end <\/span>in <\/span>this <\/span>world. <\/span>The <\/span>veteran <\/span>shot <\/span>Svetka <\/span>Vanzhulykha <\/span>in <\/span>the <\/span>head <\/span>with <\/span>a <\/span>hunting <\/span>shotgun <\/span>so <\/span>that <\/span>she <\/span>would <\/span>no <\/span>longer <\/span>chatter <\/span>with <\/span>her <\/span>rotten <\/span>tongue. <\/span>Yes, <\/span>this <\/span>is <\/span>a <\/span>crime. <\/span>She <\/span>drove <\/span>the <\/span>veteran <\/span>to <\/span>despair. <\/span>Obviously, <\/span>he <\/span>committed <\/span>it <\/span>while <\/span>in <\/span>a <\/span>state <\/span>of <\/span>severe <\/span>emotional <\/span>disturbance. <\/span>Such <\/span>an <\/span>act <\/span>should <\/span>expose <\/span>all <\/span>the <\/span>abuses <\/span>and <\/span>negligence <\/span>of <\/span>other <\/span>officials <\/span>who <\/span>had <\/span>been <\/span>hiding <\/span>until <\/span>this <\/span>event. <\/span>We <\/span>will <\/span>investigate <\/span>this <\/span>in <\/span>detail. <\/span>Let <\/span>me <\/span>say <\/span>right <\/span>away <\/span>that <\/span>I <\/span>am <\/span>on <\/span>Viktor <\/span>Prokopchuk’s <\/span>side. <\/span>You <\/span>must <\/span>not <\/span>treat <\/span>patriots <\/span>with <\/span>contempt, <\/span>arrogance <\/span>and <\/span>insult\u2026”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
