Frontline schools in Mykolaiv Oblast will receive equipment to improve meal provision
All expenses will be covered by the UN World Food Programme
Schools in frontline communities in the Mykolaiv region will receive additional support to improve student meals. New equipment will be purchased for their cafeterias and kitchens using international aid funds allocated by the government of Ukraine.
A total of more than UAH 15 million has been earmarked for these purchases for 203 educational institutions operating near the frontline. The funding allocation was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi.
The support will cover six regions:
- Mykolaiv;
- Zaporizhzhia;
- Sumy;
- Kharkiv;
- Kherson;
- Chernihiv.
The aim of the purchases is to create better conditions for preparing meals and improve schoolchildren’s nutrition, especially for primary school pupils. The program gives particular attention to institutions in communities located right next to combat zones.
According to the head of government, the funding is provided entirely by the UN World Food Programme. No additional funds from the state or local budgets are needed for this initiative. Serhii Koretskyi also thanked international partners for their assistance with school meals.
