The TCC fined a volunteer who has been blind since childhood 40,000 hryvnias
According to the MP, all his bank accounts were blocked afterward
A blind volunteer, Artem Dubenko, was fined 40,000 hryvnias by a territorial recruitment center (TRC). The situation was described by MP Oleksii Honcharenko.
Dubenko lost his sight completely at the age of two. He is from Kherson region and has been internally displaced for the past several years. He currently works as a massage therapist and volunteers, helping service members who lost their sight in the war.
According to Honcharenko, before the incident in question, the man had crossed the state border several times without any questions being raised.
About six months ago, Dubenko went to a military rehabilitation event in Lviv region, where he was helping as a volunteer. On the way, he was stopped at a checkpoint and told that he was wanted. At the same time, according to the MP, all of the man’s documents were in order.
The TRC issued the fine after this stop. According to Honcharenko, all of Dubenko’s bank accounts were subsequently blocked. The man is now, according to the MP, forced to turn to the courts to challenge the penalty and resolve the issue with his accounts.
The MP publicly appealed to the TRC staff involved in the situation, demanding that they investigate what happened. He also said he would not let the case go unnoticed.
The information provided contains no official comment from the TRC on the circumstances of the case.
